little did i know when i took this that an hour or two later, both my shoes and Trey's would get soaked by a small, but very aggressive wave. all i had to do was run (and it still got me) but he had to uproot his very large tripod laden w/ heavy gear. my docs are now a shade darker from the drenching.

usually, my "shoe" shots come out more compositionally balanced than this, but i must say, Trey was being quite amusing, and making me laugh while i was shooting this. actually, i like the quirkiness of this one ~ it really conjures the moment for me. in addition to being a master of HDR photography, a world traveler, a generous teacher and a genuinely kind person, he is endearingly funny, to boot.
