The Clock Tower, Palace of Westminster - 11th March 2012 17:10
The Clock Tower was completed in 1858 and is often, incorrectly, referred to by the nickname of the Great Bell housed within it - Big Ben.
Big Ben (which is used to strike the hours) cracked within two months of installation due to the hammer being too heavy for the bell. The bell was taken out of use for three years and repairs were made to stop the crack from getting bigger, the bell turned (so the hammer stuck somewhere else) and the hammer replaced. The crack is still there today and the sound is a little "off key" as a result.
London Set | Large on Black | Hit L for Lightbox.
I know this is a bit of a touristy shot, but I don't really care... I quite liked the warmth of the light! :)
Really must try and catch up with all my contacts this week - it's been busy here!
