Donritt has added a photo to the pool:
Although it was a little chilly yesterday, it was a beautiful day for shooting. Still trying to get out of my photography funk, I started my morning with a bowl of cream of chicken soup and then headed out with camera in-hand, searching for a place to spend then afternoon. I was originally headed downtown but changed courses and drove north to the Bahai Temple in Wilmette IL.
A quick search of Google images will reveal that just about every angle of this building has already been photographed several times. With that in mind I knew that black & white was the direction I would be headed. I've driven by the Temple many times over the years, but this was my first time being up close and personal with it. You can't help but be amazed by how beautiful this structure is. The detail in the building is unbelievable and as a photographer I wanted to be sure that any picture I took did justice to the majesty of this place.
This is a slight departure for me because it's not an HDR. Instead it's a composite of several different exposures blended then converted to black and white in CS5, Photomatix got the day off. I used a combination of Nik & Topaz filters (brushed in, not applied globally) to bring out various details.
