John H Bowman has added a photo to the pool:
Spring was pretty well along at this elevation (roughly 2,500 feet, I think) when we stayed at the Peaks of Otter in mid-April, but the colors were still those of early spring, and some trees were just beginning to leaf out. There is a one-mile loop trail around Abbott Lake, and this was taken from that trail, on the south side of the lake, a bit west of the dam. The three buildings of the lodge (with a total of 60 rooms) are in the center, and the building midway between the lodge and the left edge of the photo houses the registration desk, restaurant, gift shop, and the like. We had the pleasure of introducing David's wife and boys to the Peaks of Otter and some other Parkway sites on this trip, and of getting David back to them for the first time in a good many years. Starting in 1996, Ruth Ann and I have stayed here nearly every year, and more than once some years. We like the lack of telephones and TV sets in the room, but we have learned there is some pressure to "modernize" the facilities (to make them more like what you can find anywhere else). Best when viewed in the light box.
