The Eames House was built in the late 1940s as Case Study House #8; one of a series of innovative designs in John Estenza's Case Study House Programme. It was designed by Ray and Charles Eames as a family house for their own use - and they lived in it for the rest of their lives.
Ray and Charles Eames are the subjects of a recently released film, "Eames: the Architect and the Painter."
