The Fackelbrunnen also Fackelwoogbrunnen is a fountain in the green area between Castle Road and Fruchthallstraße in Kaiserslautern .
The fountain was from Kaiserslautern Sculptors Frederick Korter and was created in 1939 on Fackelrondell . In 1975 he was because of the construction of the Karstadt - underpass eliminated along with the carousel and moved to its present location. The name derives from the Middle High German vark, Farh from = pig and refers to the pigs, which earlier in the numerous Woogen were allowed to wallow in and around Kaiserslautern.
The Fackelwoog was in the Middle Ages and the early modern period in the area west of the torch rondel. The Fackelwoog was recovered by damming the river and served as a brick fish pond and water consumed by the pigs. During the 18th Century he was drained and cultivated later. The Fackelrondell that Fackelwoogstraße and Fackelbrunnen refer to these earlier Woog.
